The RIIWHS202E – Enter and work in confined spaces unit provides the skills and knowledge required to safely enter, work in, and exit confined spaces. This nationally recognised course is essential for workers in construction, mining, energy, utilities, and maintenance sectors where tasks may occur in tanks, pits, tunnels, pipes, silos or shafts.
Confined space work presents serious risks, including atmospheric hazards, engulfment, and restricted access. This course ensures workers can identify these risks, use appropriate permits, gas detection equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to stay safe.
Training is delivered face-to-face at our Belmont training facility, or onsite for groups with compliant equipment. It includes both theory and hands-on practice in realistic confined space scenarios.
Upon successful completion of the RIIWHS202E – Enter and work in confined spaces, participants will achieve a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment issued by KI Training and Assessing.

This unit is a mandatory requirement on many high-risk worksites, particularly where workers enter tanks, pits, shafts, vessels or below-ground services. This training meets standards for workplaces across Australia, and a refresher is recommended every 2 years, or as specified by your employer or site procedures.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): To enter our workshop, participants are required to wear steel-capped boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirts. Hardhats can be provided if you can not bring your own.
Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements: Participants must be able to read, write and understand English. Completion of the LLN assessment is required prior to booking confirmation.
Age Requirement: Persons must be 18 years of age or older.
Individuals holding a Student Visa are not eligible to enrol in or attend the course as KITA is not a registered CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students).
