Unit Of Competency
RIIHAN305D - Operate a gantry or overhead crane

Course Overview

The RIIHAN305D – Operate a gantry or overhead crane unit provides the skills and knowledge to safely operate remote- or pendant-controlled overhead or gantry cranes, where no dogging or slewing is involved, and a High Risk Work Licence is not required.

This nationally recognised unit is ideal for workers operating cranes in workshops, warehouses, fabrication yards, and maintenance facilities where lifts are simple, repetitive, and carried out by the crane operator alone.

This course does not cover bridge and gantry cranes that require a licence, such as those involving powered slewing or lifts that require a dogger to sling loads. If you’re unsure which course you need, we can help confirm your requirements based on your work environment.

Training is delivered on-site for employer groups with compliant equipment.
