The MSMSS00018 – Operate a high pressure water jetting system skill set is designed for experienced personnel ready to progress from water jetting assistant to qualified operator status.

 

This nationally recognised training enables participants to work without supervision on Class B high pressure water jetting tasks and to supervise assistant water jetters in line with AS/NZS 4233.1:2013. It is essential for shutdown crews, industrial cleaning teams, and high-risk environments where jetting operations require strict safety control and leadership.

 

Delivered face-to-face at our Belmont facility, this course includes both theory and hands-on training, with a focus on safe system setup, tool control, and team-based operation.

Training Outcome

Upon successful completion, participants will achieve a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment issued by KI Training and Assessing delivered as a skillset under MSMSS00018 – Operate a high pressure water jetting system.

 

The Statement will include:

MSMPER200 – Work in accordance with an issued permit

MSMWHS110 – Follow emergency response procedures

MSMWHS200 – Work safely

MSMWJ304 – Operate a high pressure water jetting system

 

Participants will receive:

    • A hard copy of the Statement of Attainment on the day of completion when completed at our Belmont training facility.
    • A medical alert wallet card.

 

This course is recognised across Australia for Class B water jetting operator roles in construction, mining, oil and gas, and industrial services.

 

Once certified, a water jetting operator can:

Perform Class B high pressure jetting work unsupervised.

 

Operators are responsible for ensuring safe system setup, monitoring pressures, leading the workgroup, and implementing safety protocols in line with AS/NZS 4233.1:2013.

The CTF provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the support of the CTF in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers.

USE High Pressure Water Jetting Course Completion:

  • Candidatesmust have successfully completedtheUSEHigh Pressure Water Jetting (MSMSS00017 – Use high pressure water jetting equipment skill setOR MSMWJ202 – Use high pressure water jetting equipment).
  • This evidence can be provided with either USI Transcript, or Statement of Attainment. Wallet cardsCAN NOTbe used as evidence.

Work Experience Evidence:

Candidates must provide 120 hours of evidence from their employer, demonstrating relevant work experience. This can be provided in either a Statutory declaration from your employer, or a current logbook signed by your supervisor.

 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):To enter our workshop, participants are required to wear steel-capped boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirts. Hardhats can be provided if you cannot bring your own.

 

Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements:Participants must be able to read, write and understand English.Completion of the LLN assessment is required prior to booking confirmation.

 

Minimum Age:18 years (recommended minimum due to high-risk equipment).

 

Individuals holding a Student Visa are not eligible to enrol in or attend the course as KITA is not a registered CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students).

Through structured learning and live equipment training, participants will learn how to:

  • Operate high pressure water jetting tools as a lead operator.
  • Manage team-based jetting jobs and supervise assistants.
  • Complete pre-starts, flow checks, and pressure regulation.
  • Select and control tools such as jetting guns, flexi-lances, and tank heads.
  • Manage WHS requirements, exclusion zones, and communication.
  • Work safely under permit-controlled environments with spotters and support crew.

 

Assessment includes practical team-based scenarios, demonstrations, and written knowledge checks, all conducted by qualified trainers with water jetting industry experience.

 

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment Requirement

To ensure prospective students have the necessary LLN skills to successfully undertake their chosen training, it is a mandatory requirement to complete an LLN assessment prior to booking confirmation.
