The HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course equips you with the essential skills to respond to breathing or cardiac emergencies. It’s suitable for anyone who needs to maintain current CPR certification for work, volunteer roles, or personal preparedness.
This nationally recognised CPR course is ideal for individuals in construction, education, security, fitness, childcare, aged care, and many other industries.
Training is delivered face-to-face at our Belmont or Naval Base facility, with practical, hands-on instruction from qualified trainers. Assessment is completed on the same day and includes CPR practice on adult and child manikins in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Course Details
This course focuses exclusively on CPR skills, including performing chest compressions, rescue breaths, and using an automated external defibrillator (AED). All content is based on the latest first aid and emergency response protocols.
You will learn how to:
- Recognise and assess breathing and cardiac emergencies.
- Respond using the DRSABCD action plan.
- Perform CPR on adult and infant manikins for at least 2 minutes.
- Use an AED safely and effectively.
- Follow ARC guidelines and communicate with emergency services.
- Maintain accurate incident records and handover to medical personnel.
Assessment includes a written knowledge test and practical CPR demonstration on the floor, as required by the national unit standards.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment Requirement
To ensure prospective students have the necessary LLN skills to successfully undertake their chosen training, it is a mandatory requirement to complete an LLN assessment prior to booking confirmation.

Training Outcome
Upon successful completion of the HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation course, participants will achieve a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment issued by KI Training and Assessing.
Participants will receive:
- A digital copy of the Statement of Attainment which will be emailed to them either on the day of the course completion or the following business day.
This unit is valid across all Australian workplaces and is commonly required as part of WHS compliance, licence renewals, or site access requirements.
CPR is recommended to be refreshed every 12 months, as per ARC guidelines.
Prerequisites & Course Requirements
There are no pre-requisites for this training.
Participants are to wear enclosed shoes, long sleeve shirt and long pants for this training.
Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements: Participants must be able to read, write and understand English. Completion of the LLN assessment is required prior to confirmation of the booking.
Minimum Age: 18 years of age or older
Individuals holding a Student Visa are not eligible to enrol in or attend the course as KITA is not a registered CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students).
