Course Details

This unit of competency teaches you how to identify, prepare for, and remove non-friable asbestos from domestic and commercial buildings. All training is based on current Western Australian legislation, Work Health and Safety standards, and WorkSafe WA guidelines.

Preparation and planning for asbestos removal:

Understand how to interpret asbestos registers, assess risks, and prepare tools, signage, and documentation before starting work.

Safe removal techniques for bonded asbestos:

Learn how to use appropriate PPE and tools to remove asbestos materials without creating airborne fibres or contamination.

Decontamination and waste disposal:

Apply correct cleaning and removal procedures for tools, protective gear, and waste materials to prevent exposure and environmental risk.

Compliance and documentation:

Meet industry requirements for signage, clearance inspections, and workplace recording after asbestos removal tasks.

Assessments are conducted by qualified trainers to ensure participants demonstrate both practical and theoretical knowledge, meeting the required competency standards.

Training Outcome

Upon successful completion of the CPCCDE3014  – Remove non-friable asbestos course, participants will achieve a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment issued by KI Training and Assessing.

 

Participants will receive:

  • A digital copy of the Statement of Attainment, which will be emailed to them either on the day of course completion or the following business day.

 

This training meets mandatory requirements for anyone needing to remove more than 10 square metres of bonded asbestos in Western Australia. It also supports compliance for businesses conducting demolition or renovation work.

 

This course forms part of the licensing pathway for working under a registered asbestos removal business, helping you demonstrate that you can remove asbestos safely and in line with legal obligations.

Prerequisites & Course Requirements

Pre-requisites: Participants must hold a valid White Card (CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry).

 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): To enter our workshop, participants are required to wear steel-capped boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirts. Hardhats can be provided if you can not bring your own.

 

All asbestos-specific PPE (coveralls, gloves, respirator masks) is provided on the day.

 

Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements: Participants must possess adequate LLN skills to interpret safety procedures and documentation. Completion of the LLN assessment is required prior to confirmation of the booking.
