Additional information
With a rigging licence, you can work across a wide range of industries where heavy lifts, structural steel, and safety systems are used. Common roles include:
Basic Rigger (RB) on commercial and civil construction projects.
Crane and hoist installation crew member.
Precast concrete and structural steel installer.
Shutdown and FIFO rigging roles in mining and infrastructure.
Scaffold and access system installer, with further training.
Your rigging ticket also serves as the foundation for more advanced licensing (Intermediate and Advanced Rigging), giving you room to grow into higher-risk and higher-paying roles.
Once licensed, you’ll be legally able to perform basic rigging tasks under WA’s Work Health and Safety regulations. This includes:
Setting up and dismantling hoists, mast climbers and static lines.
Installing safety nets and fall arrest systems for elevated work areas.
Working closely with crane crews to rig and guide structural loads.
Applying lift plans and maintaining safety on site during critical operations.
Managing exclusion zones and communicating effectively with teams.
At KI Training and Assessing, we don’t just train you to pass—we prepare you to work safely, accurately, and confidently in rigging environments across Western Australia.
