This course provides the skills and knowledge required to safely construct, alter, and dismantle more complex scaffolding structures, including cantilevered hoists, hung scaffolds, and spur scaffolds. It’s ideal for workers in commercial construction, mining, and shutdown environments who need to manage higher-risk scaffolding systems.

 

Delivered face-to-face at our Belmont training facility, this course combines practical experience with strong compliance knowledge. Assessment is conducted by a WorkSafe WA licensed Assessor, ensuring you’re ready to apply for your Intermediate Scaffolding Licence (SI Class).

Course Details

This course follows the National Assessment Instrument (NAI) and meets the licensing requirements under WorkSafe WA for intermediate-level scaffolding.

 

Training is led by qualified industry trainers and includes detailed instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on scaffold builds in a controlled environment.

Planning and preparing for intermediate scaffold builds:
Interpret scaffold plans, site layouts, and hazard management procedures for complex structures.

Erecting and dismantling intermediate scaffolding systems:
Includes cantilevered hoists with multiple winches, hung scaffolds, and spur scaffolds.

Safety checks and compliance:
Learn how to inspect scaffolding structures for integrity and compliance with WHS regulations.

Communication and coordination:
Collaborate with riggers, crane crews, or site managers to coordinate scaffold tasks in high-risk environments.

 

Assessment includes a practical component and written test to ensure you can safely manage intermediate scaffolding systems on site.

 

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment Requirement

To ensure prospective students have the necessary LLN skills to successfully undertake their chosen training, it is a mandatory requirement to complete an LLN assessment prior to booking confirmation.

Training Outcome

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment and a Notice of Assessment, which remains valid for 60 days. To obtain a Western Australian High Risk Work Licence, you must submit the following to WorkSafe WA:

 

• A copy of your Statement of Attainment
• A completed WorkSafe application
• The applicable WorkSafe fee

 

Please note: The course fee does not include the WorkSafe application fee of $115.

 

KITA offers a service to lodge your WorkSafe High Risk Work Licence application on your behalf for $115, which includes administration costs. (This fee is subject to change.)

Prerequisites & Course Requirements

Pre-requisites: Participants must have already completed CPCCLSF2001 – Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding basic level. Participants wishing to work on a construction site must also have a valid White Card (CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry).

 

Course Requirements

  • Persons must be 18 years of age or older
  • Photo ID must be presented i.e. current driver licence or passport
  • Basic numeracy skills
  • Basic English language and literacy skills

 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): To enter our workshop, participants are required to wear steel-capped boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirts. Hardhats can be provided if you cannot bring your own.

 

Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements: Participants must be able to read, write and understand English. Completion of the LLN assessment is required prior to booking confirmation.

 

Individuals holding a Student Visa are not eligible to enrol in or attend the course as KITA is not a registered CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students).
