The MSMSS00017 – Use high pressure water jetting equipment skill set provides the essential training required to operate Class B high pressure water jetting systems in industrial, construction, and shutdown environments.
This course is ideal for workers involved in cleaning, maintenance, surface preparation, and industrial services, and is compliant with AS/NZS 4233.1:2013 standards for safe jetting operations.
Delivered face-to-face at our Belmont training facility, participants gain hands-on experience operating water jetting tools under the guidance of industry-experienced trainers. This nationally recognised skill set also forms the entry point for workers wishing to progress to more advanced water jetting competencies.
MSMSS00017 - Use High Pressure Water Jetting Equipment – Assistant
Upon successful completion, participants will achieve a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment issued by KI Training and Assessing delivered as a skillset under MSMSS00017 – Use high pressure water jetting equipment.
The Statement will include:
MSMPER200 – Work in accordance with an issued permit
MSMWHS110 – Follow emergency response procedures
MSMWHS200 – Work safely
MSMWJ202 – Use high pressure water jetting equipment

This course meets the training requirements for Class B water jetting operations, and prepares you for the upgrade to MSMSS00018 if you wish to progress into more complex jetting roles or team leadership positions

The CTF provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the support of the CTF in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers.

Physical Requirements:You must be physically capable of operating heavy hoses, standing for extended periods, and wearing full-body PPE.
PPE Requirements:You must wear steel-capped boots, long pants, and a long-sleeve shirt. We supply all other safety gear including gloves, face shields, and protective overalls.
Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements: Participants must be able to read, write and understand English. Completion of the LLN assessment is required prior to booking confirmation.
Minimum Age: 18 years (recommended minimum due to high-risk equipment).
Individuals holding a Student Visa are not eligible to enrol in or attend the course as KITA is not a registered CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students).
This course is widely required across:
Shutdown and maintenance crews.
Industrial cleaning and surface preparation.
Tank and pit cleaning (non-entry Class B).
Civil and commercial construction teams.
Oil and gas, mining, and resource sector contractors.
On successful completion of the training, participants may seek work as an assistant water blaster servicing the industrial, mining & oil and gas sectors.

MSMWJ202 – Use high pressure water jetting equipment is the core operational unit for Class B jetting and is also the prerequisite for MSMSS00018 – Operate a high pressure water jetting system, which qualifies you to act as a water jetting operator in more advanced roles.
Assessment is conducted through practical tasks and a short written component.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment Requirement
To ensure prospective students have the necessary LLN skills to successfully undertake their chosen training, it is a mandatory requirement to complete an LLN assessment prior to booking confirmation.
